A Press Statement from @pm_murdoch PappyShow on the unjustified banning of his account by Twitter

After several attempts from forces opposed to the campaign for equality, social justice, peace and fairness to shut down my account, sadly Twitter has succumbed to pressure and banned my account. Notably, as my email to twitter below shows, the account was not banned on the dubious allegation upon which it was reported (‘hateful conduct’) but on the ground of ‘impersonation’. This begs the question of how an account which describes itself as ‘PappyShow’ i.e. parody could impersonate anyone. It is obvious that in the fight for equality, social justice, peace and fairness, Twitter is not a friend. However, we must continue to fight with the limited tools we have, until the day that news dissemination is truly democratised. My final email to twitter is reproduced below:

“Hello,

It is sad to see that you are using your platform as a means of arbitrary censorship. There is nobody on the face of the earth that bears the name ‘PM Murdoch Pappyshow’ residing at Downing Street. Therefore your decision to ban a parody account for impersonation is a puerile attempt at censorship & corporate authoritarianism. The individual that reported this account is boasting on Twitter that he reported the account on the ground of ‘hateful conduct’. see attached. Having failed to establish any such conduct you have resorted to this claim of impersonation.

If anything, cases such as this illustrate why private company such as yours can not be entrusted as guardian of information dissemination.

Your authoritarian decision only encourages me as a person to continue to fight for fairness and justice and denounce authoritarianism whether corporate or otherwise.

Best wishes.
